On June 24, 2022, the information management and information system specialty (hereinafter referred to as the information management specialty) of the School of Economics and Management of South China Normal University successfully passed the certification of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). CILIP is an industry organization for British librarians and information and information professionals. It is the world's two famous library associations and the world's industry authority, together with the American Library Association (ALA).

CILIP commissioned two certification experts, Helen and Roisin, to conduct online certification defense for the information management specialty of our college, strictly review the training plan, curriculum system, teacher strength, teaching management support, library support and other materials submitted in the early stage, and ask questions about them. Eight teachers from the Department of Information Management, including Fengguohe, Liu Qing, Shuman, Chen Yijin, Deng Weiwei, Zhang Sufang, E Hanmei, Zhong Fenggui, and professor Zhang Jia, an expert in the age of silver in our college, participated in and completed the four-hour online defense.

The information management specialty of our hospital passed the CILIP pre-assessment in May 2021. Due to the epidemic, the certification reply was postponed until this year. Through online defense, two experts gave high evaluation to the information management specialty of our college and pointed out the existing problems. At the same time, it said that from 2021, all undergraduate graduates will enjoy the benefits of employment and education brought by CILIP certification qualification, and will be granted CILIP associate membership status, and will also be eligible to apply for full membership. CILIP membership has great attraction and influence on employers in the field of library and information in the world (especially in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and other countries), and also helps graduates of this major to study abroad for further study.

At present, the information management specialty of our hospital is the fourth one in Chinese Mainland that has obtained CILIP international certification. The passing of CILIP certification is an important milestone in the internationalization process of the information management specialty of our college, and also lays a solid foundation for the college to carry out broader international exchanges and cooperation with top universities in Europe and the United States in the future.
